Lapis lazuli is most often found in
the mountains of Afghanistan. Lapis is the latin word for stone, lazuli is arabic for blue. It is a deep blue
stone with golden inclusions of pyrite. Lapis is regarded the world over as the stone of friendship and truth.
It was ground to a powder and used as eye shadow by Cleopatra. These particular stones were cut in Germany by a german
lapidary. They are polished on the back and at the bottom of the front of each stone, the top is left unpolished and
very organic looking. I have used vermeil (22kt gold over sterling silver) spacers and 14kt gold filled beads in between
each stone. I have finished this collar with a hammered vermeil hook clasp. Very unusual and unique collar style
necklace indeed. One of a kind. ED21043
